Oldies are definitely goodies. Mom Jeans cradled us through the latter parts of the twentieth century, cinching us in at the waist, giving us a slight hint of booty and making traffic stop for a good 15 years. In the mid 2000’s, right when we thought pants would only get tighter, and people began to get rid of their old denim, the “nothing-can-destroy-me” pants reemerged with a vengeance circa, 2009.
“Mom Jeans,” as they are fondly called by everyone except mothers, have become a wardrobe staple, for the simple fact that they have proven themselves to be stylish, durable, and versatile – three things all your clothing should be. In most cases, the denim is styled to attain a “grunge” or “skater” aesthetic. Recently however, stars such as Gigi Hadid, and Jourdan Dunn have added a different take on the trend by pairing the denim with fur coats and sandals, ultimately softening and elevating the look.
